The Paris Soulmate is a sweet rom-com that takes you on a seven-day whirlwind trip to Paris. It will have you swooning and laughing.

There were some really sweet moments in this insta-love whirlwind romance. Both characters dealt with insecurities. It was refreshing to see attractive people struggle with self-doubt and self-worth. So often, they are portrayed as unbreakable, and that isn't the case.

While I enjoy love at first sight love stories, I wish Christine put up more of a fight to create some drama. Everything seemed to happen so fast between the two of them that there was very little build-up throughout the book. Their days in Paris felt repetitive despite the different locations.

I would also have loved more of an epilogue and maybe more from Doris or the other side characters to bring more laughs and dimension to the book.

Overall it was a cute book with some plot twists that kept me interested to see how it played out.

I absolutely loved this romance novel. Christine was so low on her self esteem and confidence that I could relate to her, also with her immune disorders and feeling like it would be selfish to be in relationship with anyone. I totally understood her reasoning but felt she deserved so much more. Then Colin comes in as a 'fake' friend turned lover, he was jus such an amazing character, the way he truly felt about Christine was undeniable. They both deserved everything, so glad it ended the way it did. Will look out more from this author.

Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC.

I was pulled towards this book because of the premise of travelling solo to Paris.
I really enjoyed the build-up of the trip with learning about Christine and her disabilities but slowly became disinterested as it turned to be more about Colin’s deception than anything else.
I didn’t enjoy the fast pace nor the insta-love aspect, and I didn’t feel that the characters had much depth, there were odd stories about their pasts that came up unprompted but nothing that made them more human to me.
I appreciated the banter and what Christine as a survivor living with many chronic illnesses was meant to represent, and despite not liking the insta-love, I began to understand why Christine easily had such deep feelings for someone after meeting them - but only once her reasons were brought up.

I really liked the little map of the places in Paris as well as the movie list, yin yoga positions and the playlist that all added to the story.

Overall this was a fun, easy read and I’d recommend it to some friends who I know have a liking for some of these very specific tropes.
