"because it feels like things might be okay again. Maybe not right away, but they'll get there. One day."
I wish you all the best tells the story of Ben De Backer, who gets kicked out of their house when they came out as nonbinary to their parents. They have to move in with their estranged sister, who they haven't seen in ten years. They are trying to survive the last half of their senior year at a new school, as they try to fly under the radar. Ben is struggling with an anxiety disorder compounded with their parents rejection.
Ben ends up meeting Nathan Allen, who has a charming personality that is larger than life. Nathan wants to be friends with Ben and end up taking them under his wing. As their friendship grows, their feelings for each other begins to change and develop.
I had such an enjoyable time reading this book! I enjoyed reading about the characters and the storyline. I read this book so quickly and I didn't want to put this down. I truly loved all the characters, Ben, Nathan, Hannah, Thomas, Mel and Sophie. It was a fun and easy read and I really did enjoy every minute while reading it.
I am so happy that I read this book.

I read this entire novel in one sitting and I think that speaks for itself.
It was such a heartwarming yet honest read. It is so relatable for people in the LGBTQ+ community and can be so useful to show allies what it can be like to come out. I adored the writing, the pace, the characters; it all just really spoke to me and made me feel somewhat at home/safe, and therefore I recommend this to everyone, and anyone, because it is both informative and stunning. I found it quite entertaining that, literally the day before I read this novel, me and my friend were discussing where enby folk lay on the sexuality spectrum in the eyes of other people- for example, a 'gay' man cannot date a masculine-aligned non binary person and still call himself gay, so does that then make him bi? Or something completely different? it is honestly just such an eye opening and enjoyable read.

This book is so heartbreaking but so real and that makes it wonderful! Watching Ben struggle to find a way to feel safe and comfortable in their own skin is tough, especially as they have to deal with misgendering and terrible parents. I would love to see more of Ben and Nathan as they learn to manage the world together!
