I've said it many times and I will say it again: The characters of South Rock High are adorkable and I cannot get enough!
This new book is about Julian's story and the loss of his V-card.
And you guessed it, it is hilarious!!!
Jules:
"And then Voila! Virgin for life! On the bright side, I could still be used for ritual sacrifices and lighting the black flame candle in Hocus Pocus. Who wouldn't want to hang with the Sanderson sisters?"
Not only he makes a plan to be virginless by his birthday but he manages to enjoy it in the process.
The reason? Seamus, the hot baseball coach/Spanish language teacher. They are best friends and Seamus jumps on the chance to help Julian. And ineluctably, jumps Julian too.
Seamus is a straight guy with bicurious tendencies, as he proves to be, and he owns it...
Julian:
"Did he just compare his lovemaking skills to a firework extravaganza?"
Yes, yes he did and he actually delivered!!
These books are sweet, funny, with amazing characters that you cannot resist.
Like I cannot resist all of Julian's hilarious punchlines:
"If men could figure out how to fellate each other over the course of millennia before the internet, then so could I!"
Chase is next and I already feel it, his book is gonna be epic!
Thank you to @gay.romance.reviews for the copy!

I love this series. This group of 4 friends with their fun banter and hilarious chat, and the support they give each other is one of the most remarkable things about the series. Through all the three books, it's something that doesn't change.
As fun as this book is, it touches on some tough topics, like dysphoria and Julian being bullied for not having a perfect physique, not only by strangers, but by his mother with her criticism, and Seamus and his gambling addiction in the past.
The plot itself might be a bit unrealistic, but after all, it's fiction, and if I wanted to only read something realistic, I'd only read newspapers. Also, in an ideal world, everyone would react as Seamus reacted to exploring that bi-curiosity he felt, and that until he found himself in the position of "helping" Julian, he never really felt the need to explore it. It came naturally to him. He simply opened his mind and let himself be carried away by emotions and sensations and not just by what the world and society dictate as correct.
What must be highlighted is how they help each other to overcome their insecurities and fears, while exploring the sensual part of their relationship.
One of the reasons I'm not giving it 5 stars is that I didn't like the dirty talk. I mean, it's not that I don't like dirty talk, it's just that in this case the words or phrases used weren't very nice or exciting for me, and so they seemed kind of forced, like if they didn't say them, the scene wasn't hot enough.
I loved seeing Greg and Ethan appear from Out In The Open, my first and favorite book by this author. Their interactions with Seamus were amazing!
In general, a sweet, funny story of overcoming and self-discovery. Despite a few details, a pleasure to read.
I was given an advanced copy and voluntarily wrote a review.

Romance Languages is another funny and fantastic installment in the South Rock High series.
This one gives us Julian’s story, the resident language teacher/nerd, who is still a virgin at almost 35, secretly in love with his friend and coworker, Seamus, and has just been thrust into teaching sex ed. When he accidentally reveals his inexperience, Seamus offers to help him out — you know, as any straight friend would offer to deflower another friend. Turns out, Seamus may not be so straight after all, and Jules has some secret skills, and this friendship is destined to be more.
A.J. Truman makes me laugh on the regular, and this one was no different. But there were also moments of real sweetness and support between Julian and Seamus — and they loved each other, regardless of what each considered to be flaws within themselves. Come for the humor, stay for the heart.

Almost 5 stars, loved the teachers and school setting - very well done, just felt a little cheated with the resolution with mom AND the MC’s reconciliation. Julian deserved more from both for the magnitude of these arcs- whether groveling, ass-kicking, or…something. He is worth it!
I wasn't too big a fan of this book. The relationship, which was based on Seamus, who always believed he was straight, doing a favor for Julian, who's made it to his thirties without being intimate with a man. After a horrific date where his weight came into play once again, Seamus thinks it's a good idea to help Julian and so does Julian, but you can see a disaster waiting to happen when you know Julian is going to catch feelings for Seamus. Seamus, already confused by how close he is with his friend, doesn't step up when Julian admits what he feels for him. The development between the two men seems lacking and only because of the circumstances rather than any truly deep feelings, and in the end, this book wasn't for me.
Julius is the guy everyone wants to be friends with. He is so kind, generous, and understanding….but this man sells himself so short! I fell in love with him in previous books, but he might actually be my favorite in this series! (That is a bold statement, I know!) Julius has a lot of body image things happening, but luckily surrounds himself with true friends. He just needs to let them see his whole self! As a side note you will fall in love with his Grandma because she is totally badass and completely makes up for others in his life!
Seamus, wow. He completely 100% surprised me in the best way….and let’s say his friends crack me up in the best way possible! Greg and Ethan love Seamus for exactly who he is! He has not had the easiest road and is working hard to make amends in his life. He deep down is a great person that loves hard and cares so much for others. Seamus is a rockstar at showing Julius how the world sees him and adores this man exactly the way he is.
Julius and Seamus have been friends for a couple of years, and work super closely. Like right across the hall. As a teacher myself, I loved how AJ Truman portrayed high school and its teachers….teachers are people, too! When Julius confides in Seamus and is in need of a sex tutor the so we thought straight Seamus offers to help. I love love love this trope, and a great bi-awkening and I knew this book would not disappoint…and friends, it did not disappoint! While some might consider this a slow burn there was SO.MUCH sexual tension and amazing chemistry throughout. The build up was amazing, and perfect! While this duo’s friend group is amazing and I love them I also appreciated how this book focused on the couple, but we still got little sneak peeks at their friends! Of course, Raleigh & Everett could never be in a book without letting us all know (ha ha- we love them both so much!!!)....and Chase with all of his little factoids! Bottom line, if you love a great found family, humor, and all the feels in your romance this series should be a must read for you!!!

Reread 25/26: yep it’s really good that I’m reading this series again. Plus getting to see characters from other series has been a kick, I loved meeting Cal & Hoss in Drama! & meeting Greg & Ethan from Browerton reminded me of how connected these 3 series are. Anyway, love the body positivity in this one!! Listened via Hoopla. 6⭐️ 💜💜💜
Adorable. Love that the relationship angst was relatively short-lived. Happy to see that a friend group could have rocky moments and recover. Pleased that Julian stuck up for himself eventually with his mother, but can't help feeling like most parents wouldn't have understood/made changes so easily/quickly. But, it's fiction so that's fine.
