One of the best books about ghosts. As someone who does believe or at leasts wants to believe the possibility of ghosts I loved the way that Colin Dickey talks about how we the living make these places haunted more than any ghost could.

Dickey does a phenomenal job balancing ghosts, history, and the overlooked. As a white (or white-passing) man, he is surprisingly thoughtful in his depictions and inclusion of racial tension and violence, as well as of sexism. He consciously includes narratives beyond the white majority and casts light upon the ways those same majority narratives downplay, distract from, and distort the stories of Black people and women.
Minor: Rape, Sexual violence, and Racism
