Thank you to sourcebooks bloom books for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!

I don't know if i am a huge fan of this series.. I also did not love the voodoo stuff in this book. It was a good story but I just don't think this series is for me. I enjoyed their relationship and I like that they built a strong foundation before moving into a romantic relationship. I just really wanted to love this series so much but it just didn't hit the way I wanted it to :(

I was looking forward Kenan and Lotus book and wanted to love this book but it didn't hook me like previous books in this series.
They had sparks in previous book but here just at times, I didn't like her being constantly compared to little girl especially with what happened her as kid. There wasn’t enough interaction between them to really build a connection. It is well written even though flashbacks was way graphic I had to skip it.

So this last book of the Hoops
Series started slow for me. I loved Lotus from book one because she was such a firecracker and didn’t take any BS so I was excited to see how her and Keenan’s story would play out. I did appreciate how patient and supportive he was with her while she worked through her trauma. It was much needed for her to be able to love herself and him correctly. The last 2 hours are what really brought it home for me.

Talk about a total swoon sports romance where love becomes a game of risk and redemption!

In Hook Shot by Kennedy Ryan, readers are treated to a powerful standalone romance set in the high-stakes worlds of professional basketball and high fashion. As a retired fashion journalist who married a retired professional athlete, I was more than onboard.

Meet Kenan Ross. A single dad and former basketball star, his life has been shattered by betrayal and divorce. He then gets traded to a losing team, and his life lies in ruins. Meet Lotus DuPree. A wildflower with a storm inside her, the connection she has with Kenan from the moment their eyes meet is electric. She's not part of his plan, but is she the risk he can ignore?

To quote everyone on the internet, Ryan's writing is a slam dunk! I found her writing to blend emotional depth, passion, and heartwarming moments effortlessly. She crafts a setting both glamorous and gritty, taking readers along for a rollercoaster ride.

This book is more than a romance; it's a testament to resilience, love's unpredictability, and the courage to take chances. No matter your hobbies, this book will hook you from the first page.

Thank you to NetGalley and Atria Books for a temporary e-ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Grown up romance

Romance with all the feels one associates with Kennedy Ryan. Not really much of an age gap, despite the title. The FMC has trauma to work through, which is handled sensitively by the author. Both characters go on a journey, battling to overcome problems from their past. It was good to see both characters acting honourably, even if at first this is at the expense of their happiness. It all works out in the end.
