It was a really cool book. It was pretty morbid, but I kept forgetting that everyone was dead, lol xD But yeah, stuff always kept happening and it was really cool how new things were always being learned (like what the coins do ;) ) I can't wait to read the next book now! :D

This would be a great book for younger readers who are at an advanced reading level. I'm looking forward to reading the other books in the series.

Everlost by Neil Shusterman

Everlost was my first book by this author. I had heard great things about [b:Unwind|764347|Unwind (Unwind, #1)|Neal Shusterman|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1297677706s/764347.jpg|750423] but Everlost was already on my shelf, so I started with this one.
What I noticed first is that Everlost was far more innocent than I expected. It’s more of a children’s/middle grade book than a YA novel. It has monsters in it but no terrible violence. There is some kind of love story but no passionate romance. It’s more like a bunch of kids having an adventure.

The characters were all interesting and lovable. Allie was really brave and I laughed out loud when I read that Nick is stuck with chocolate on his face for the rest of his everlife because he died with chocolate on his face. Mary was an interesting character because she sometimes seemed so evil but yet tried to do the right thing. It was sweet to discover the McGill’s sensitive side (shh, don’t tell anyone).

The story was exciting and original. I liked how everything twisted and turned out at the end. I wouldn’t mind reading the sequel to Everlost but I’m even more interested in Neil Shusterman’s novels for older readers now.

Everlost explores the answer to the question of what happens after we die, it takes place in the limbo between life and death. It definitely gave me Peter Pan vibes, Everlost seems to only host mainly children, along with his set of villains who are said to look like monsters. It was full of adventure, soul and it was overall just a fun read.

What an interesting, well planned story. The author has a nice economy to his plot. If he doesn't need it, it isn't there. There were some things that I'd still like to explore in Everlost, but it was a satisfying, clean read. I'd recommend it for 10 and up.

I thought this book was really good! Not as good as Unwind, but I still really enjoyed it.
Also, when I was reading this book, I got into Grace Potter & The Nocturnals. The song "Ah Mary" is perfect for this book. Mary really pissed me off.

There are some very frustrating characters but the world building is excellent
