Giving this one 3 stars even though I loved it because I think the next books are going to be 4/5 stars. I think the war scenes could be better, since I had trouble imagining what was actually happening. But I am SO invested in this story. So excited to read the next one!

Couldn't put this book down. A sci-fi spin on The Hunger Games that was also reminiscent of Divergent and The Matrix. It was very fast-paced, unpredictable, and had lots of great twists. The door was left wide open, so I can't wait to see where Pierce Brown takes the rest of this series.

I was intrigued by this book because ok booktok and the internet going nuts over it, and then my book club picked it as a book so I dove in with them. They all seemed to love it..

I just thought it was ok... world building is ok, and the plot is fine I guess (if you're ok with Hunger Games attempting to be darker). But the characters felts flimsy, and the main character was annoying.

The writing style had me forgetting full pages of what I just read.. had to go back and re-read.. still didn't gather all the info. Felt bored a lot of the time.

I'm not really sure what I'm missing.. it's very popular on the internet and my book club guys FLEW through it and are already into book 2.

Just not for me I suppose.
