Even though I wasn't super into it at the beginning, it turned out to be a pretty good book.

This novel was okay. I felt some parts came together too easily, especially the timing of things and events. It was a little too light of reading for me for historical fiction, but that's just a preference of mine. 3/5.

The Clockmaker's Wife is a historical fiction set in mainly London during World War II. The story progresses in dual storylines during 1940 and present times. The story is about three generations Nell, Alice and Eleanor. The events of the novel though fictionalized gives us an excellent overview of the Blitz and the difficulties of a common man in war ravaged London. A medium paced historical fiction where one generation is trying to unfold the fascinating story of the past generation.

A good solid story of romance, sadness and bravery.
The story is a well written one with endearing characters and a very good narrator on the audiobook version.
It gives more of a dimension to WWII and is very credible in it’s telling.
Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for gifting me this arc in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.

I loved this historical fiction / mystery story told in dual timelines. The first timeline is in 1940 during the Blitz, when Nell Spelman and her baby daughter are strongly encouraged to leave London and stay with her parents in the country while her husband stays on to maintain Big Ben and the giant Clock Tower. The second timeline is present day and even a little into the future, when Ellie finds her grandmother's watch and pictures, and travels to London to find out what happened to her. This story is the perfect combination of two of my favourite genres. The drama was thrilling and had a lot of surprise turns that kept me guessing about what was going to happen next. The characters were very likeable and engaging. and I could really feel their struggles. A fantastic debut by Daisy Wood!

A very enjoyable dual-timeline historical fiction happening in 1940 and in 2021. The print book must be a great comfort read too, but the audio book was just amazing! Sophie Bentinck did such a great job, I'll be looking out for books narrated by her in the future, that's for sure!
This novel has a lot of strong female characters, just the right amount of romance, espionage and digging up family history.
I am grateful for NetGalley and HarperCollins UK Audio for an Advance Reading Copy.
