As a viewer of Bravo’s Southern Charm, I picked this book up on a whim as a quick read.

And it wasn’t that bad.

Shep has some wit and brings a good dose style to bear on his writing. I particularly enjoyed his appendix of books that influenced him.

Unfortunately, it reads a little sophomoric in places and some of the tropes are dated. The part about his family history was interesting and the kind of color I was hoping we would get more of. I need you to “spill the tea” on your SC cast mates Shep!

Author pro tip: SHOW us how you got the girl Shep, rather than TELL us.

Overall, Shep should be commended for writing this (I believe it is substantially his voice rather than a ghostwriter) during the pandemic when the rest of us were binging Netflix and not doing much of anything.

Good job, Shep!

I hoped for a little more depth, but this is still a humorous read for fans of Southern Charm.

If you love Southern Charm, you know all about Shep Rose...or do you? I learned a lot more about him from this book than what is portrayed on the show. He is highly educated and well versed in many things. While there wasn't a whole lot of depth in this book, it was a fun listen and touched on the other people from Southern Charm too as an added bonus.

I love Southern Charm & Shep. This was such a fun read - it’s not super heavy on the SC content but enough that you get some behind the scenes mixed in.
