Christina Lauren are my comfort rom-com authors, and I've been loving making my way through their backlist with my friends.

Roomies was my first marriage of convenience romance, and I loved the unique circumstances surrounding their arrangement, and the FMC's personal journey to get past her failure-to-launch situation and work on her feelings of self-worth.

I loved her uncles and the support they showed her, and the behind-the-scenes Broadway storyline and musical aspects. I even appreciated the characters to dislike.

However, I did struggle to connect with the romance and trust the MMC—probably because we weren't in his head.

And while the last 20-25% was chaotic with A LOT going on, overall this was an enjoyable read.

my librarian recommends good books to me. she knew i’d like this as it involves music and writing.

“I want to live my life with the intensity I see on the stage up there, want to feel passionate about something in that same way. But what if it never happens for me?”

“In short, I have a body made for sport, but hand-eye coordination made for books.”

i liked the main character Holland a lot. she’s smart and savvy and self-aware. as doo as i thought the novel was going in a predictable manner, Holland would question the same thing. she has an enviable relationship with her wealthy, cool, creative uncles. her crush on the street musician Calvin is cute. the green card marriage seemed a questionable plot but it worked out in the end.

4.5 stars!

A bit of a slow start, but the romance was juicy and it was an excellent read!

HOLY FUCKING SHIT THIS WAS ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS I’VE EVER READ I’VE NEVER RELATED TO A CHARACTER MORE.

ALSO, THE ANGST?? THE FLIRTING?? BRO!!!!

Loved her uncles and their family relationship. Fake marriage was cute. Main character's insecurity and lack of direction were realistic for a 25 year old. I wish the heroine's growth had been stronger, but again she's 25.

Not my favorite Christina Lauren book but still entertaining.

What a sweet romance! I appreciated that Holland prioritized her own self actualization instead of solely focusing on her romance with Calvin. However, the recurring theme of her insecurities causing (stupid and avoidable) communication roadblocks became tiresome after a while. Still, a lovely read.
