I came here to read a sequel to a romance book, to see the progress the characters made in their relationship. Sadly, it is not a book about them. It's a murder mystery (a genre I am usualy bored by). I knew that from the synopsis, so I shouldn't be suprised, but I still hoped it would lean more into romace.

Not quite as enjoyable as the first one. It’s still a fairly fun, simple read, but the giant plot holes, incomprehensible way the characters reacted to literally everything, and the lack of depth in the overall story were more glaring in this one. It also felt like the author either forgot parts of book one or just decided to drop them entirely (Gentry’s “magic” for one), but this book felt disconnected from the first. Also, I’m all for queer representation in stories. In fact, I find it weird when there isn’t queer representation in books, but with this book it felt more like the author was trying to check boxes rather than have it as an organic part of the story.

Interesting concept, but poor execution. Max and Gentry are still adorable, but their relationship takes too much of a backseat in this book.

Let Sleeping Foxes Lie gets a 5-star rating from me, hands down my favourite in the Sleeping Foxes duology.

This second book expertly weaves together romance and mystery, creating an engaging story that hooks you from start to finish. Max's life in Welling is now full of love and unexpected obstacles, and watching him deal with personal struggles along with a thrilling murder mystery is just what I wanted after the first book.

The mystery adds interest to Max and Gentry's story without overpowering the heartwarming relationship. The characters are still well written, their interactions bringing both tension and humour. And the ending ties everything up nicely, leaving a lasting impact.

If you're into cosy mysteries or romance, this is a must-read for sure!

A strong sequel. A sweet insert in the time between the events of the last novel and its epilogue. Intrigue and mystery with a HEA.

A little boring as a second part of a duology, but cute as a little companion book. Probably could have been a novella.
