Home Sweet Christmas is the second book in the Wishing Tree series and is set yet again during the Christmas season.

This can be read as a standalone book but for a few reasons recommend reading the previous book before tackling this one. For starters, both novels are set in the same town meaning there are cameos from the first book and potential spoilers if you do decide to read both. Secondly, I personally did not enjoy this one as much as The Christmas Wedding Guest so if you are only going to read one, I would recommend going with that one.

Just like the one before, this book had two parallel love stories told from all four persepctives. In the first one it was about two sisters while this one was focuses on two "brothers." Camryn was mentioned in the previous book and so I was expecting to see her as a main character in this one along side Paisley. I was half right! However, making Jake Crane the main beau was something I did not see coming. I struggled a little bit with the idea that this was the same Jake mentioned in the first once. I came into the book already disliking him and already rooting against him. However, I quickly forgot how he did my girl Reggie dirty, and he quickly became one of the best book boyfriends! I enjoyed their story the most: a crazy mom, an adorable puppy and twin sisters, what's not to like!

Dylan and River were brand new characters who had not been previously mentioned which I thought it was strange choice. I enjoyed both of them and their storyline enough, it just wasn't what I was expecting.

I adore the town of Wishing Tree and all the unique characters who bring the town to life. I'm hoping for a third book and to finally see Paisley get her own love story!

Camryn moved back to Wishing Tree to take care of her twin sisters. She planned to return to Chicago after they graduate. The twins find this out and were mad and upset about it.

River is new to the town and her friends nominate her for the Snow Queen. This pushes her out of her comfort zone. Dylan was the Snow King and helped River through all the activities. There is a secret that Dylan is torn to share and River figured out he was hiding something and this hurt her.

I generally really enjoy this author. This was a bit unusual in the sense that there were two main characters with separate love interests. So both stories were rushed and you didn’t get as much character development since it was split in two. It felt rushed and shallow. I did enjoy the characters but think two standalone books would have been nice.

I was thoroughly unimpressed with this book. The story was mediocre and the writing felt extremely juvenile. The portrayal of the sisters was fanciful at best as they were presented in such a manner to make them seem younger than their 16 years and much more immature. None of the characters were very well hashed out.

Cute, cozy, Christmas read! The scenery was beautiful and the descriptions of the food and activities were lovely. The characters were a bit predictable and slightly annoying at times but overall I would recommend it to someone who wants a light quick holiday read.

This was a Hallmark Christmas movie but in book form. My biggest issue was this book was longer than I would have liked and it felt like two books. Nonetheless I still very much enjoyed it. And it made me smile and gave me Christmas feels

Home Sweet Christmas is another wonderful book from author, Susan Mallery. It definitely got me into the holiday spirit. It is never too early to start reading Christmas books. I could see this book playing out on the Hallmark channel. Of the two couples through I do have a favorite. It is River and Dylan. This is because I saw a bit of myself in River as being an introvert. So, they relationship moved at a slower and sweet pace. This is not to say that I did not like Camryn and Jake as a couple too. They brought more of the spicer side.

Although Susan does a great job of making not just the main characters so enjoyable but all of the other ones as well. So that they don’t feel like just add ins but people that you want to hang out with. If Wishing Tree was a real place I would want to visit and hang with everyone. Readers of Susan will love this holiday read. Home Sweet Christmas is a sweet holiday treat of a read!
