You guys, this book is just everything. Did I add a new book boyfriend to my list? You bet your ass I did!
An Unexpected Paradise is Chelsea Curto’s debut novel about Jo and Jack, two work enemies who are offered a work trip to Florida, where they are forced to spend 4 days together…and with Jo’s toxic ex. While there’s so many laugh out loud and cute moments to this book, there’s also deep conversations and the unpacking of so much trauma from both characters. It made the story so much richer, and I couldn’t help but root for them, together and as individuals. They were both so insanely relatable. Also, the conversation of consent was a constant theme in the book, and I couldn’t appreciate it more.
The spice was perfection, and while I’d consider this a slow burn, the tension and sexy banter was always there! I’m pretty sure I highlighted about a third of this book, that’s how much I loved it. I cannot say thank you enough to Chelsea for the ARC and giving me the chance to enjoy this book before it comes out on August 9th.

NOW WE’RE TALKIN’!!!!!!!!
This book was fun and flirty, achingly tender, and full of heartfelt depth. I will admit I had low expectations, simply because I haven’t enjoyed the last handful of books I’ve read, and was so pleasantly blown away by how much I loved this book!
The writing was really good, and I loved all of the characters, flaws and all. It felt like a believable transition from enemies to friends to fake dating to lovers. I related to Jo in so many ways, which is probably another reason I loved it so much.
Anyway, be a good girl and read this book!

An Unexpected Paradise was such a lovely debut novel!Chelsea Curto is an author to pay attention to.
This book has it all:
Mental health representation
Coworkers to lovers
Grumpy x sunshine
Great banter
Fake dating
Slow burn
“Good girl.”
One bed
Spice ✨
And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. At it’s surface this book involves two coworkers who get off to a rocky start and vow to make each other miserable. Hijinks ensue until they’re both assigned a work trip to a conference. For the good of the company, they have to learn to tolerate each other to survive the conference. Then to add fuel to the fire, Jo finds out her horrible ex will be in attendance. Surprisingly, Jack jumps in to save the day and save Jo from embarrassment. They soon realize that there’s more to each other than meets the eye.
At its core, this book has so much heart. Underneath the jokes and banter there is a lot of serious topics woven into the plot, but they’re all handled very well. Jack and Jo break the mold of your average romance. They aren’t perfect by a long shot, and they aren’t afraid to face their flaws head on. But more importantly, they accept each other’s faults and help each other heal from their past.
All around this was a really good book. Going into the book, I really didn’t like Jack. From Jo’s perspective he seemed childish, petty, and rude. But then the book switched to his perspective and my heart immediately softened. What an absolute cinnamon roll of a human! I loved how quickly my opinion changed and how much I rooted for these two. I enjoyed reading it and thought the side characters were lovely too. I’m already excited for Henry’s story in book two.

I breeeezed through this book! It was fun, witty, hilarious, relatable (yes to flawed characters!), and just full of meaningful and heartfelt content. I thought the character arcs were great. Their individual growth and healing was beautiful, but their journey toward each other? After all they've both been through? Now that was heartwarming.
Jack=book boyfriend material. Only thing I knew before starting this book was that it was a “enemies to lovers, fake dating, co-workers” book. K, cool I was sold.. you had me at enemies to lovers.. This book had me sucked in so quick!
This book was a journey! It was so much more than a fake dating story.. this had my personal favorite troupe: grumpy/sunshine with guy who has been through something in his past where he thinks he can’t love or is unlovable.
I thought this was going to be a fluffier “beach read” but this went deep. Definitely check trigger warnings. This book tackled some mental health issues and I’m here for it. I love a good book where the characters grow as a person and learn more about themselves and realize they deserve good things. Both main characters had some trauma and eventually was able to discuss with each other.
Highly recommend this book. Jack made this book extra and I LOVED his journey.. and love that he allowed Josephine to go along.

Workplace nemesis, enemies to lovers & fake dating. 3 of my fave tropes in one book 👌🏼 + so much therapy rep 👏🏻
The FMC & her best friend being bookworms and talking about tropes added to this so much.
The third act break up was frustrating but quickly resolved which made up for it & I really enjoyed the ending!
