These books are positively delightful and only get better with each passing installment. While book one is, perhaps, unusual in its plot progression (and perhaps genre) the series really takes off as a fun tribute to both the cozy and the Sherlock Holmes mysteries, creating a delightful twist on the brilliant detective's family and career. Witty and thoroughly satisfying, I recommend the series to everyone who enjoys an intriguing, heartwarming read, a gutsy female lead, and a good laugh [at the expense of the patriarchy].

If you can get the audiobook, Katherine Kellgren's narration only accentuates all that is wonderful about these stories.

Quite a fun story of the Holmes younger sister. Precocious and clever she is independently in the family business of sleuthing. Intersects with Florence Nightingale and lots of light and fun story telling.

I was worried after reading[b:The Case of the Peculiar Pink Fan|3039234|The Case of the Peculiar Pink Fan (Enola Holmes Mysteries, #4)|Nancy Springer|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1255638407s/3039234.jpg|3069858]that the series may have lost some of its quality as it continued. It only took reading the prologue of this one for me to say, " Ah, now that's more like it." This book is my favorite in the series after the original. Not only do we have more delightful encounters, or near encounters, between Enola and Sherlock but there is also the added presence of Florence Nightingale as a character. Ms. Springer does a delightful job of again accurately displaying history but also giving her own twist to the motivations of a well known figure in history. (She does include a very brief end note explaining what is true and what is fabricated.) The mystery in this one is tied up in the work of Florence Nightingale during the Crimean War and gives the reader a graphic picture of what life was like for those who fought it and the people who cared for them.

A lovely, entertaining read. Victorian Age, Florence Nightingale, Sherlock Holmes, and morse code. What could be better?

This book seemed to be more of a Young adult/adult book. Well-written with complicated words I would recommend this teens and adults who want a quick read. There is nothing inappropriate for kids...Just complex subject matter at times.

This is my FAVORITE Enola book - the cover with Enola looking absolutely *feral*, the Florence Nightingale appearance, Sherlock and Enola's conversations, the conversation that Sherlock has with Nightingale - UGH what is NOT to love? Enola kicks butt (literally) and I am HERE for it.
