I seriously liked this book soooo much. It was a really good love story that i've read in less than one day. The writer makes us feeling what Piper is feeling, she makes us living what Piper lives and all of that. For less than one day, I was Piper and I had Selective Mutism. For less than one day, I could understand what it is like to have that kind of anxiety.
This story was magic and really beautiful. I recommend it to everyone who like loves story or story about anxiety.

French review :
Que dire...? J’ai lâché mes plus belles larmes dessus, des sujets abordés super interessant et très bien écrit ! Je le conseille totalement !

English review :
If you didn’t read yet but you think about, DO IT ! This is one the best book that I read ! Everything was good, a simple romance but with some teens problems and the selective mutism of course !
I cried so much... but in reality there’s really nothing to cry as much I as did, I’m just really sensitive !

Read this in one sitting. And cried my eyes out! When I got to the last page I was like: "What? That's it? I WANT MORE!"

This rating may change as I haven't made up my mind about how I feel about it. I love the sincere insight to the live of someone with Selective Mutism (unlike in The Big Bang Theory where it's mostly played for laugh). However, some parts of the book feel a little flat to me.

Full review to come.

This is a very important book. If you have social anxiety in any way, shape or form, I would definitely recommend reading this. If you know people who do have it, it'll give you insight into them and their struggles.
Also support Kylie Fornasier because she is quite possibly my new Goddess and a wonderful human.

I read most of this book while getting my hair done and then had to come home and finish it. Piper has selective mutism. After a huge blow up with her best friend Cassie she starts at a new school and meets West, who seems to be the Golden Boy. As she gets to know him she realises that they have more in common than they thought, but will she ever be able to tell him how she really feels?

I loved this book. The cover really drew me in and I found myself feeling for Piper. Fornasier was able to brilliantly portray Piper's anxiety and the difficulty that she faces in managing her condition. I also love the way that she portrayed how society doesn't know or understand much about this condition through Piper's experiences of bullying. I have a newfound appreciation for this condition and its sufferers.

Another very enjoyable Australian YA read - this one set in the Blue Mountains of all places! I found the characters engaging and the story interesting. This was a pleasant and inoffensive teen romance that was a quick and easy read.

For the most part I really enjoyed this YA novel. It tells the story of Piper, a 17 year old with selective mutism, who can only speak to her family and a handful of close friends. It was a subject I didn't know a lot about until I read this, and was pleased to find, through a bit of basic research, that this is a quite realistic portrayal of selective mutism.
Fornasier does a decent job of conveying how incredibly frustrating it must be to live like this, illustrating a range of challenges, many of which I hadn't thought of. The standout of course is the judgment and misunderstanding of others, which I'm sure speaks volumes to YA readers.
Generally, as an adult reader, I tried not to expect too much sophistication from the narrative, and I can certainly see how it will appeal to adolescent readers. However I did feel that the last quarter of the novel fell victim to a few cliches that felt a bit unnecessary to both narrative and character development. Pacing was also a bit of an issue here as Fornasier hurtled to her conclusion. Overall, this was a good read, with an interesting and different premise.

I didn't like the ending at all (and I think it needed some med-picking), but otherwise great.
