To Hold Up the Sky is a collection of short stories from Liu Cixin who's mostly known for his Three Body Problem trilogy.

This collection is a mixed bag. The stories range from very bad, to middling to great. Two (out of eleven) stories really spoke to me and the rest were mostly meh.

There are a few diamonds in the rough, but most of these stories are thoroughly mediocre and uninspired. You can tell that Liu used all of his best stories in The Wandering Earth: this collection contains those that didn't make the cut

I have read Cixin Liu's first book of his series the three body problem and while it was good, it was a bit complex, but I love his prose and how he tells his stories and I am glad to know that this short story collection didn't disappoint me. Although these stories reflect on the past, it feels very futuristic and I enjoyed taking a trip through time with his stories and I didn't expect to enjoy this so much!

Thank you Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review! Thanks to the author too!

I didn’t live every story, the war one was kind of gruesome, but lots of interesting ideas.
