This was a good one, the book makes you hate the priests for what happens to the children at first especially with the hole and then the tension starts to build when Bartholomew comes back and seems different. As it goes on it is heartbreaking to see the kids forced to grow up and some of them take roles forced on them and Peter become a priest after choosing lve in his heart. Those last few chapters are just heart wrenching as well

I don’t even know where to start with this book . Absolutely amazing. Stunning. Vivid and heartbreaking and brutal. Part Lord of the Flies, the Exorcist & Children of the Corn, with writing like classic 80s King with some powerful heartstring pulling moments like McCammon. A horror novel that scares the crap out of me and makes me cry?!
Needless to say I immediately ordered another one of Fracassi’s novels. I love discovering new-to-me authors that completely floor me with their writing! 5 out of 5 highly recommend!
