I wanted to read this book because I absolutely LOVED the first book in this series, that book is still in my thoughts and lives rent free to this day, so when Lucy announced that there was going to be a second book, I instantly pre-ordered it and it has been on my list on anticipated reads, I didn’t think she could bring the standards to Things We Never Got Over, but she did it. Now I want to move to Knockemout and find me a friend in that friendship group.

This book has two points of views. The first one is Nash Morgan. We met him in the first book, and he is known as the good Morgan brother, with a smile and a wink for everyone. But now, this chief of police is recovering from being shot and his Southern charm has been overshadowed by panic attacks and nightmares. He feels like he is a broody shell of the man he once was. Nash isn’t about to let anyone in his life know he’s struggling. But his new next-door neighbour, the smart and sexy Lina, sees right through his bullshit. He is trying to avoid her as much as possible, yet he can't seem to stop thinking about her. The second point of view is Lina Solavita. She has got secrets of her own, and she’s not a fan of physical contact unless she initiates it, but for some reason Nash’s touch is different. But if Nash finds out the real reason she’s in town, he’ll never forgive her. Besides, she doesn’t do relationships. Ever. A hot, short-term fling with a local cop? Absolutely. Sign her up. A relationship with a man who expects her to plant roots? Hell to the no. Once she gets what she’s after, she has no intention of sticking around. But Knockemout has a way of getting under people’s skin. And once Nash decides to make Lina his, he’s not about to be dissuaded . . . even if it means facing the danger that nearly killed him.

I want a Morgan brother. I want someone like Knox or Nash or Lucien, all three of them, I don’t care. I thought I was going to struggle because I love Knox (he is still my favourite), but Nash is a very close second. I love that they focused on the effects of PTSD and panic attacks in men. I also love a man in uniform and loved the fact that everyone loved Nash for his butt. I love Lina as a character and just wanted to hug her all throughout the book. I love that Lina reminded me of Knox where she has this tough exterior and a good reason to be like that and then Nash was slowly chipping away at this and then Lina became an absolute golden retriever, plus we love strong girls protecting their man and taking the bad guys down.

I cannot fault anything about this book or series, it has been stuck in my brain since I started reading the first book and patiently waiting for this second book. I was thinking about it during work, driving home, watching TV. I made the mistake with Things We Never Got Over by devouring the book that I wanted more and wanted to savour it. I didn’t want to make the same mistake with this book and yet I read it in 4 days and stayed up stupid late reading this book because I was just stuck in this town with these characters.

When this book was released, Lucy announced that Lucien and Sloane book was coming out later this week and I cannot wait, I've already pre-ordered and now I'm just counting down the days. I also would love a book for Stef and Jeremiah and maybe Waylay in like five years. I don’t want to leave this town and I’m going to be a mess when Lucien’s book comes out.

The sequel to Things We Never Got Over, Things We Hide From the Light focuses on Knockemout Police Chief Nash Morgan and his struggle to find healing (and, of course, love).

I never thought I was a Nash girlie, but it turns out…I’m a Nash girlie. This book had all the absolute best parts of its predecessor, including tons of supporting cast members (Lucian, my love) and a super strong secondary action plot line that I really enjoyed. It is also super sexy, and the tension between Nash and Lina *really* got me—it’s a slow burn for the first half, but so worth the payout we eventually get.

I can’t say my favorite thing about the plot because of spoilers, so I’ll just say that there is one thing I *hate* about most contemporary romances and this book doesn’t fall prey to it. The bonus epilogue is also absolute gold, and the teasers it offers for book three…ugh, September truly cannot come fast enough.

If you enjoyed TWNGO, absolutely go grab this one now! I loved it even more, and have a feeling Lucian/Sloane’s book will be my favorite yet.

Recommended to anyone, but especially if you like: small town romance; rom-coms with action vibes; slow burn stories
