I really enjoyed this book! The characters were really interesting and the use of multiple POVs and timelines added to the readers understanding of what was happening and what might be revealed. This was my first Charlie Donlea book and it certainly won’t be my last!

Gripping and I didn't find the multiple POVs to be too much. I liked seeing the POV from Angela, Rory, Thomas, and Frank. I could see similarities between Angela and Rory immediately. When Angela was worried about Leonard but noticed Bill's red neck, I thought it was Bill. But then it turned out to be Thomas when she found his tokens from the women he killed. I was shocked to find that out. And then we find out that Frank adopted Rory from Greta, who was Angela's nurse. That nurse also helped Angela give birth to a baby and that baby was Rory! I had a feeling they had to be related if the author brought it up. Sadly Angela had died during childbirth. Frank knew Thomas was bad and wanted to be the only one The Thief trusted. I'm glad we get ome justice in the end. BUT how the hell did Thomas get to Catherine and to Greta? He didnt have a car so HOW ?!? When Rory went to go to Thomas's place on her own, I was worried for her. It was stupid to go alone, but at least Thomas can no longer hurt anyone anymore. I bet she whispered that she was Angela and his's kid before he died. It was so satisfying for him to go out that way since his other victims had to endure it too. Closure finally came. Then we see how the red clay comes to play. Rory had to burn her boots and Lane even helps her burn it down. I have no sympathy for Thomas. He was not rehabilitated. Sometimes people get away with murder but luckily he didnt. I'm glad Rory now know who she really is. I wonder what happened to Camilla Byrd now though. It set us up for another book nicely.

All these twists and I never really figured them all out until my guesses were wrong.
I thought it was Bill, but it was Thomas.
I thought maybe Greta was Angela and they had switched places or taken identities, but Angela had died during childbirth.
I thought the woman with the roses at the beginning might be a victim, and technically she was but not in the way I had thought.
I never guessed that Rory was adopted and really Angela's baby, even though I could feel they were somehow related.

I love when books have me guessing and guessing wrong. Sometimes predictable books arent as fun. Keeping me on the edge of my seat and on my tippie toes means this book was quite the page turner. I really did enjoy my time reading this book. I'm glad a Fable book club introduced this book to me.

Such a great read! Gripping story and believable characters made this book one of the best I've read recently.
While I did call all of the twists, and you will probably too, I was still captivated and along for the ride.
only marks off are for the last few chapters.

I feel like Thomas got off too easy.

Overall, would recommend. Can't wait to read the next one!
