This. This is why I read. For this feeling. This is the feeling I am chasing, am hoping for, each time I pick up a new book. Awe. And reverence. Those feelings are here in this book. I could say more, so much more, but I would rather let you discover the beauty within for yourself. Lamya H, you are brilliant.

I loved it's really incredible and precious. It's so easy to connect with the author. The parallel stories from the Quran were fantastic. Really enjoyed!!!

Gorgeous and thoughtful insights into queerness and religion. I feel like I need to read it again to give a star rating as I wasn't in the right headspace to fully immerse myself in it.

"Hijab Butch Blues" is seriously one of the best books I've ever read and it's, in my opinion, a vital read for any queer person, but especially those of us who are white, non-Muslim, and non-immigrants. Lamya is funny and thoughtful and introspective and exceedingly clever in the ways that she presents her life experiences and how they intertwine and inform each other. I feel as if I've learned so much from this book. I will read this again and again, and recommend it to as many people who will listen. The reviews on the back were not kidding when they called this book revolutionary and a classic.
