so many feelings for this one. it was beautiful. i wasnt around in the 70s, i dont know, but this felt groundbreaking to read as a 21st century reader so i can only imagine what it was like then. guest just shone a light on everything, the taboo yet normal occurrences of everyday life…i guess it read a bit cliche at points but it was great. my eyes welled up so often! i really grew to love and appreciate this world

Beautiful and heartbreaking storyline. Thought provoking and healing. The writing style is interesting and captivating, but can be hard to decipher who each chapter's perspective is from at first. Many parts read as racing thoughts, and it's executed very well.
Edit to review after letting the book digest more: this is a 5 star. I can't stop thinking about small parts of this book, and everyday conversations have my mind drifting back to the words between the covers.
