"That girl you touched belongs to me, and do you know what I do to people who look at, let alone hurt, what's mine? I make them wish for death." Boomm shakalakaaa

This did not disappoint. That russian roulette scene was something else lmaoo. This was fucked up on another level (not that I'm complaining).

Although I will say I was confused a bit cause in god of pain Creighton told Lia that Cecily was not okay (following Annika's kidnapping) and that "You do realize that Jeremy did not get that information out of her by being a good sport". So what he just straight up lied? Or he didn't actually know? And who was Cecily talking to on the phone at the end of god of pain? Was that supposed to be Landon? I feel like I'm trippin and this isn't adding up but wtv ig.

Also, how Cecily's dad kept calling Jeremy a lizard LMAOOO homeboy got gagged for no reason

Okay, I was a bit apprehensive about this book due to some of the reviews I read but boy were those wrong IMO. This story was not a "copy and paste" of the previous stories presented in this series and I think it was a very heartfelt story about two people overcoming their trauma.

Now Jeremy Volkov is different from the previous men in this series and I will tell you why. From the moment he begins to spend time with Ces he wanted to help her work through her trauma. He wanted to help her like he wasn't able to help his mom and BOY DID THAT MAKE ME LOVE HIM. Yes, Jeremy can be very aggressive, possessive, and controlling. But you genuinely can see that he cares (from reading his POV and the way he speaks to Ces). He had a heart from the moment he was introduced into this book, it just took a lot of trust for him to open it up. Jer is the first man of this series that I believe isn't a psychopath or anything of the sort. He definitely isn't a saint but everything he does is for a reason and it's calculated almost to a fault. This man is always thinking two steps ahead and will give his life to protect the people he loves. I'm not saying Creigh was the complete opposite because he definitely wasn't but Jeremy just showed it a lot more I feel like.

Ces is my favorite of the women in the books so far. Ces is a fucking powerhouse and I was SO excited to read her book from the moment I met her in the first book of the series. Ces is an independent, baddie who does not let a man talk down to her even if he is a scary, aggressive man. I adored Ces because I saw a lot of myself in her. She overcame her trauma and was able to accept Jeremy for who he is and will be due to his responsibility to his family.

Ces + Jer for LIFE.

Thank you Rina, you have done it again. I love these dark, smutty, intriguing stories you keep offering me. You killed it queen!
