I liked this biography of Harriett Tubman. I did learn some new information and the illustrations were beautiful. I did feel like this could’ve been for young adults, as it was very accessible.

My first factual account of Harriet Tubman's life I have read. As I was reading, I could draw parallels to the inspiration found in the fictional reimaginings of the historical heroine. Her courage and unshakable faith is inspiriting in my own journey as an aspiring activist. The author's retelling adequately showcases Harriet's black girl magic.

I’m not a huge fan of nonfiction and the writing is always why.
I knew the writing was below academic by the title, which I thought might improve my enjoyment without all the fancy lingo usually shoved into nonfiction.
But my goodness,
If you took a shot every time the author said “likely”, (Harriet “likely” felt this, “likely” thought that, it “likley” was difficult for her) you’d be dead from alcohol poisoning.
That being said it’s hard to rate any book low that is about such an incredible historical figure. I would’ve liked a bit more facts from this book, but it was interesting.

Fascinating story of a woman who I only knew as a conductor on the Underground Railroad. She was MUCH more than that, she was the ultimate bad a$$!

Growing up being black during Black History Month you would always hear about Ms. Harriet Tubman and all she done with the Underground Railroad and freeing of the slaves. This book goes so much deeper than that. This book tells you more about how she was bought up and you get to learn about her family and how they were kept in slavery when she was born a free woman. This book gives such accurate information about to everything Ms. Tubman has done and the risk she was willing to take on a daily basis to ensure her family and as many others were free. I learned many new details that I didn’t know before. The one that really pissed me off was about President Lincoln. I always knew that the war was never about freeing the slaves (as much as people want to give him that credit) but I never knew that he wanted to ship blacks out the country. This book is definitely good for thought and I highly recommended you pick this book up today!!!!
