I recently reread Solitaire so I am now making my way through Alice's other works (technically out of chronological order!). This is the first time I read this novella and I really enjoyed it. I read it in 2 sittings as it is between 100-200 pages and fairly large spaced text. I liked the context that this gave to the some of the topics mentioned in solitaire, such as Charlie's ED and time spent receiving treatment. I thought that the way Alice wrote about these topics was very well done and the conversations between the characters of different generations in the story surrounding Charlie and his ED demonstrated that stigma and ignorance is still present surrounding these topics. Although, Tori and Nick's characters give a well needed contrast to this and are great examples demonstrating how people should behave and be supportive of people struggling with their mental health. I also liked learning more about both Nick and Charlie's families themselves and their extended family members
especially liked that Oliver had his own section! I thought it tied up the end of the novella really well.

I love everything about this book. I can't even begin to express how much these characters mean to me and how deeply I relate to their stories and personalities (especially Charlie's).

Is my rating of this book (and other books in the Osemanverse) heavily biased by my own personal history? Probably. But I'm sure everyone can agree that the love, joy & relatability that Alice Oseman crafts into her work is astounding. These books make you FEEL.

The Spring siblings will always have the softest, warmest, most special place in my heart <3 and reading this book from each of their POVs was like taking a moment to be a part of their family. I absolutely adore them!! And I absolutely adore this book!! (If that wasn't obvious enough already)

I have every intention of rereading this book again and again (as I reread the other books in this universe and rewatch the Heartstopper tv show again and again !!!)

The Osemanverse is my comfort universe 🫂✨
