This book makes me so emotional. As someone who has never wanted kids, every time I reread this book I have to revisit that decision. Lou and Josh are the sweetest kids, and Dallas is the perfect man. His little notes make my heart swell. Amazing book

So so good. I hate how quickly I read Mariana Zapata books, but I can’t put them down!

Diana is raising her two nephews after the death of her brother. While struggling with her imposter syndrome to be a good influence of them both, Diana is working full@time as a hair dresser and taking another to baseball practice or finding Louie’s missing shoes.

Somehow Mariana Zapata just knows how to capture you with the slow burn romances. There wasn’t the same kind of magnetic pull between Dallas and Diana that her other couples have, and I loved it. How they went from Dallas’s unconvinced reluctant that Diana was only@trying to sleep with the “hot baseball coach” to her being his friend, then moving into their soft relation was ✨wonderful✨. It was sweet and creeped right up on you I think it helped that through Diana’s POV, she was so distracted by everything that when she realized how much she cared for Dallas, the audience already knew how perfect they’d be together because their actions throughout the book spoke so much louder than words.

I can’t imagine taking care of any of my nieces and nephews for longer than a week, let alone imagining doing it without your sibling. 💔 this book was special

i love this book so much, it made me laugh, cry and go awwww. lou and josh are adorable. the relationship they have with diana melts my heart. this is why i love kids in books. and dallas is perfectt.

“Real love was gritty. The real kind of love never quit. Someone who loved you would do what’s best for you; they’d stand up for you and sacrifice. Someone who loved you would face any inconvenience willingly. You didn’t know what love was until someone was willing to give up what they loved the most for you.”
“I always thought you looked like mine, but you sure do fucking feel like you’re mine, too"
“One of the worst things in the world was watching someone you love fall apart.”

🥰🥰 I love Diana and Dallas. She’s so strong and caring and I love her relationship with Josh and Louie. The kids are so sweet and funny. Dallas was so good with them and I enjoyed watching him grow closer to the whole family. MZ is such a slowburn master. This had so many swoony and heartfelt moments that mad me smile.
I also loved the little cameos from characters from The Wall of Winnipeg and Me, Kulti, and Under Locke!
