I loved this one!

Wait for It is about Diana, who is raising her two nephews. Right after moving into a new neighborhood, she finds herself breaking up a fight between her neighbor’s brother and some other men. It’s clear that she’s gotten off on the wrong foot with her neighbor but as time goes by and they start seeing more of each other, things slowly begin to change.

I picked up this book solely because I saw it was about Diana, who we met in The Wall of Winnipeg and Me, but I ended up loving the story a lot more than I expected. I really liked the plot and I thought slowly building a relationship and falling in love with your neighbor was an adorable concept.

Like a lot of romance novels, Wait for It was very character driven and boy did I adore these characters. I loved Diana so much. She’s so stubborn and has such a take no shit attitude but she makes sure to always set a good example for her boys. She loves them fiercely and will do anything for them. Diana’s relationship with Josh and Louie was actually a big highlight of this novel for me, even more so than the romance. I love their little family and the three of them constantly had me feeling all warm and fuzzy inside. I wasn’t a big fan of Dallas, the love interest at first but before I knew it he was making me melt. He is such a sweetheart and it is evident how much he loves Diana. He’s also so good with Josh and Louie and I especially enjoyed the way he fit so seamlessly into their family.

I highly enjoyed the writing. Mariana Zapata’s writing is so fun and had me grinning from ear to ear. She also made me cry about three times, which is something I was not expecting at all. While this book is fun, it also hits you every time Diana breaks and you find yourself cracking open a little bit too.

I adored how raw and real this story felt and I had such an amazing time with it. I cannot wait to eventually read all of Zapata’s works.
