This book was beautiful. I think everyone should read it because it truly gives perspective to so many different people’s experiences. I think my favourite character was Clara. She was always up to something and she was willing to reflect. There is a lot we can learn from her. The character I most connected to was Maisie. I have felt very similar things that she has and coped in similar ways. I find so much respect for her. It was a gorgeous novel.

It is just really good. It’s an easy read since there are so many things going on at the same time (there is no boring part) but it also made me feel so many different emotions. I really liked it. I got attached to the characters, I cried/smiled for them. I just really feel like it’s very well written not in a « classic book » (like Little Women, Frankenstein, Notre-Dame de Paris, etc) but in an emotional way. It was not beautiful but it was raw and I actually really liked that

This book was impressive. The story was amazingly told and all of the characters were so complex and human. It highlighted a piece of history that until very recently has often been swept under the rug. Some of the stories by these five narrators end in tragedy, some in healing, and some in both. I found myself wishing the best for all of them. Sometimes I got my wish and sometimes I didn't.

Good digs into the horrors of Indian schools and the long lasting repercussions they had on individuals and entire communities. She also gives you a bit of hope that while things can never be truly mended for the people who were impacted, they can still find some form of healing and reconnect to the things they lost.

The book as a whole is pretty good it helped me gain a farther understanding of what it was like to indigenous people after residential school but I do have to that, the book is kinda jumpy in the time line like this happened oh now its a year later kind of thing. The characters there was some character development mainly at the end and some were more developed than others.
