This book was very cute! Very much exploring grief all the way through and how different people handle it differently. You could really feel the strong ties between all the characters and that was the highlight of the book to me. The relationship is one of the slowest of burns though its not really The Point. I like how when Bea was starting to have a panic attack the book went through her process for grounding herself again. Constantly describing her outfit like in a fanfic, love. This is a v good YA book that I'd reccomend to my younger siblings.

I thought this was a really beautiful depiction of grief and the weight of responsibility that happens afterwards, on top of the difficulties of nagivating adolescence and self-exploration

The author spent the first half of the story working around a storyline instead of telling it. The last bit was much better.
Minor: Suicide
Thank you to NetGalley for an eARC in exchange for an honest review!
This was an incredibly gentle and empathetic portrayal of grief. Racquel Marie always does a great job making her characters feel like real people, and Santiago and Beatriz were no different - along with all the side characters.
The pacing started out a little bit slow, but it ended up being a very rewarding journey and one that shouldn't have been rushed. I'm glad I got to read this one early. 4/5.

This book is well-written but didn't resonate with me. I struggled to relate to the characters and expected more focus on mental illness, but it primarily dealt with grief. While Santi's OCD and Bryce's depression were mentioned throughout, I wanted to see a deeper exploration? The portrayal of grief was thorough, and I really appreciated the queer representation. Despite how good the writing was, I think this one just came down to personal preference.

It's hard to rate this book, because I do think it was well written, but for some reason it did not really resonate with me. I found it hard to relate to the characters and from the title and summary, I thought mental illness would be a bigger theme in the book, but it was almost completely about grief. Santi's OCD and Bryce's depression were mentioned a few times, but I wish we would have gotten a closer look at those. I do think this book does a great job at portraying many different aspects of grief and showing how messy grieving can be. I also loved all the queer representation in the book. I'll give it 3,5 stars, because although it was well written, it wasn't really for me.
