This is a really great read. The prose is lovely. The characters are wonderful. I really enjoyed watching the main characters grow, both as individuals, but also as a couple. I liked that this wasn't a slow-burn, but instead we (the readers) got to watch the relationship between these characters as it changed. I love a queer love story, and this one delivers. I enjoyed the themes of unlearning shame and reclamation of the self. The only critique I have is that I wish we spent some more time watching Psyche go through the Trials of Aphrodite, so we could have seen more of how her character developed in the earlier part of the story. This isn't really a flaw at all, more just my own preferences showing.
I was excited for this book because it was sapphic and sounded interesting but nothing happened, I wanted to love this book. It was interesting at first and then it was just straight up smut, yes it was written well at time but I did not know this book would have any let alone have this much. I wanted to finish it as I haven't really DNF'ed a book before but I just couldn't get through it. There were no stakes and nothing that would keep my interest, I skimmed and looked at the last chapter before I made my decision and I can safely say nothing super interesting happens.

i liked this better than circe, altho i think this style of greek myth retelling is just not really my cup of tea. it picks up in the last third but by then i wasn't super invested.

If I could give it more stars, I would. This book pulled back the curtain and shined a bright light on all the dusty and abandoned skeletons buried deep in the closet of my soul. It breathed life into me and made me feel seen in a way that only queer authors know how to do. Thank you, this is truly a work of art. Psyche would be very proud.
