overall a pretty nice read they were so cute and loveable (not aisling & dee lol). there were some mistakes i noticed throughout the book but weren’t significant enough for it to become an issue. i was also shocked at the end when they said all of the book’s content happened within the span of 3 weeks? i figured it would’ve been longer but that may just be me. anyway, really fun & cute also a few important topics discussed and was glad to learn more about bengali & muslim culture/traditions!! :)

Likes:
- Always love when the author includes a content warning
- Love a book with complicated family dynamics cuz that’s definitely something I can relate to
- It didn’t waste too much time getting to the actual plot
- Both povs definitely have their own distinct voice
- They definitely do feel like teenagers (some authors definitely struggle with having their teen characters be realistic but not here)
- I like that Ishu cusses
- I like seeing all the Bengali and Indian and Muslim culture
- I like the focus on each of the girls different relationships with their families
- Usually I have a preferred pov but here I really do like both povs equally
- I love the sister relationship between Ishu and Nick, and how their fixing it to be better
Dislikes:
- Honestly the scene where Hani finally confronts here friends could’ve been better, like she didn’t say everything about how horrible they have been to her and I really wish she would have.
Random thoughts:
- I’m only on the second chapter and WOW do Hani’s friends SUCK (and they only get worse)
- It feels good/refreshing to read a ya romance after so long (I haven’t read a YA romance since March)
- I love fake dating, it’s definitely my favorite romance trope
- Honestly this book is kinda making me really hungry cuz of all the delicious food that is mentioned
- So does Ishu just have OCD?
- This would make a fantastic book to screen adaption
- I’d say it’s a medium to fast paced book

Great romance, very relatable characters (as a pathological people pleaser who can’t say no to my friends and finds it difficult to stand up for myself like Hani and a person who seeks parental and academic validation like Ishu. Or just as a person of colour living in a white majority country, who is also queer)
Still not over my reading slump / depression era but this book made me happy
