“Family is complicated, Hani. Everyone has a different relationship with their family.”

This was so so good. I LOVE fake dating and this book was just perfect for that. I love that this book talks about being POC in a white community. The generational expectations and the familial issues. It was just so interesting and I loved every second of reading it!!

An amazing YA book worth picking up!

3.5
this was it was super fast paced and i finished it in a day or two! i liked hani and ishu and the development of their families. i also found the discussion of religion, identity, and queerness and their interrelation interesting. overall i just wanted more payoff in the end; i found that the cute moments in the first half between hani and ishu kind of dissipated in the second half which focused more on each character’s independent issues. i would have preferred more of their relationship instead!

basically, i loved their chemistry n simply wanted more of it!

Changed my rating but I did like it! I think the author has a great talent for creating dramatic scenarios. I think there were things that could be fleshed out and it didn’t feel like all the ends were tied up at the end. Had a good time reading it tho!

This was a lovely little listen , while I like a good fake dating trope I'm unsure if I like it in a YA. I found some things by the characters  very juvenile  but then I feel that was also the point? I did not like Ashleigh or D. The MCs are likable and deserve so much better then their bigoted freinds

This book contains  Islamphobia  , Biphobia, homophobia and probably  more ! It was very subtle at times that make.yiu think
 " was that a bigoted  comment ?"

I love the Narrators  for this book

So far this is the only novel I've read (or perhaps, author that has written these characters) with Bangladeshi Irish and Indian Irish protagonists. While the title makes you think you're jumping into a romantic novel, this book was more about navigating friendships and being comfortable with oneself, with a side of fluttering butterflies.

I enjoyed Ishu's interactions with her sister Nik, and watching how Ishu grew from seeing how her college-aged sister had grown. The main characters Hani and Ishu had individual strengths, weaknesses, and challenges- especially when it came to the realm of friendship and the need to step out of what was comfortable and into what was right.

I look forward to reading more by Jaigirdar.
