  • I loved the ending — the plot twist genuinely caught me by surprise.
  • My favorite part was hearing Minka’s story; it offered such a compelling perspective.
  • I felt it provided deep insight into the emotional impact and really humanized the characters
  • It brought home the reality that this happened to real people
  • The best friend dying and the sister killing her baby I found the most sad
  • I think the periods in the book where you didn't know what had happened to the family members, if they were alive or dead, also represented what those people would have experienced

Audio. So good! Great book!

I am remembering why I liked reading Jodi Picoult. I liked this book and it was a good, easy read within the context of a book pertaining to the Holocaust. Interesting ending that would make for good conversation.

Well she did it again! At first I wasn't so sure about this book, and let's be honest Ms. Picoult's themes are always tough issues but this one is amazing and the plot twist at the end is great! I love how this author takes a subject like WWII and Nazi war criminal tribunals, which are becoming a thing of history books to this generation and inter-weaves it with a popular literary genre, vampire stories! Well done! This book tells many stories pushes the reader along and keeps you rooting for
The characters - even when you don't want to!
