A book my mother always talks about every now and then, apparently this has even been read to me to no avail! Years later and adult me finally has read this book in its Dutch translation. It is a magical place, and despite it being a children's book, it has a lot to offer to all ages. The book reads like a dark and twisted fairy tale, like you put dark tinted glasses over your cinderella like stories. It's mood and themes are very sombre, but it leaves you positively dreamy after the ride.
