I'm sorry but this book made nooooooooo sense! I don't think the author even knew what the hell this group was being attacked by. It changed with every chapter plus there was a weird time loop thrown in there. The land was described as 'salivating' which was fucking strange. I guess the land was cursed? Really couldn’t get an idea of what was truly going on. The characters are pitiful andI wanted them all dead. Maybe I'm just not that big of a fan of survivalist horror but I feel like the horror aspect of this wasn't explained at all and I feel like it needs to be explained at least a little. What a wretched book!!
It had a really great opening but then the story just went off the rails from there. I thought this was going to be more of an investigation into what happened which I think would have made the story more interesting and structured.
There is a social media aspect to this. Dylan is a semi-famous rock climber and was going to the woods of Kentucky (near Red River Gorge, an irl famous hiking spot) to climb what no one has to put herself on the map.

It's weird to imagine a book having jump scares, like in movies, but this book definitely has them! I can't say I was scared or actually jumped lol but the way this book read and just played out like a movie, you can tell while you were reading that if you were watching it, the music that would be playing, the tense scenes and the jump scare lol ... And I was living for it! I loved all the back stories to tie in what was happening to the main characters and the little details of everything to make this story unique. I was definitely hooked from the minute I picked it up and decided that my family could just cook, clean and take care of themselves til I finished this book
