This is not scary so far, I don't like any of the characters, and the supernatural elements are never a fave.

I think overall, this story had a lot going for it. But much like the characters find the valley/forest repetitive, so was the writing. A lot of duplicate metaphors that got old: skin like jerky, fire spreading as if along a line of kerosine, etc. And frankly, I’m a little tired of haunting-type horrors that no one talks about until it’s too late! TELL EACH OTHER ABOUT THE GHOSTS!!! COMMUNICATE!!
It was fun, if a bit wild to follow. I only wish there had been more of an explanation or order to how the valley worked. The characters need not ever know but I think it was missing a Hill-House style explanation for why things were alive and wrong.

Further Details:Slade goes missing and is mentioned as being much skinnier and mangier when found at the end, but he is alive.
