I'm not sure I quite got what this book was going for, but that doesn't mean I didn't enjoy the vibe. I wouldn't say it was laugh-out loud funny but I found the characters endearing and it kept me reading. I did find some of the more mathematical parts and continous mentioning of nothing to be a tad tedious though. I kinda feel like the mathematics here don't really matter, but perhaps that's the point. Perhaps if I was more well versed in Bond films and spy movies in general I'd understand it better, otherwise it all seemed to amount to nothing.
But then this is a story about nothing, so that's fitting.

Gosh, I haven't come across an ending that was equal parts brilliant and infuriating (and bizarre...?) in a long time. This was just plain fun -- and has me itching to pick up a math textbook!

honestly this was quite a confusing experience in a good way. i love that the main characters are all autistic and it was super interesting to read from an autistic pov rather than seeing the 'autistic character' as a spectacle from someone else's pov - makes a change. the way some things are explained super literally can be quite funny in places as well. intro at the beginning sets up the tone for the rest of the book quite well, although it takes kind if an unexpected dark turn! i expected it to be a silly heist, and not for sill to work against wala and eigen - i thought he was going to be a cool actually alright villain or silly unthreatening villain (like dr evil sort of thing) rather than a real threat, so that was interesting! no idea which way i would have preferred it tbh.
the humour felt quite dry which i loved and worked well with the extremely confusing plot and main focus (the idea of 'nothing'). felt very philosophical and expected some clarified draw to real life politics/sociology through some metaphor, but if there was one i didn't understand it (i'm honestly planning on doing some research after i write this).
i loved how confusing and unusual the plot was and how socially stiff the characters are towards each other, i think it all works very well together as a vision, reading such a confusing and sort of meaningless? story can be kind of frustrating at times though, at multiple points i thought i had missed something super important when i hadn't. but tbh, i think it works best that way.
i haven't irl giggled at a book like this in a good while too!! things like bill clinton but not really bill clinton, and gloria constantly asking to have sex with wala: 'i promise i'm good at it', sill showing off how he's a real supervillain by showing off his submarine, it's so silly i love it
