If I could give this 6 stars, I would. I absolutely adored this book. Despite being over 700 pages I wanted more. More of these characters, more of their life, more of the intimacy you see slowly built over the 30 year snapshot you have into their life. Not a single page or word is wasted. It shows you their highs and lows and is truly one of the best books I have ever read. I wish I could read it for the first time again.

Unrelenting tragedy and heartbreak. I don't think I could ever recommend this to anyone but I also think everyone should find the time to read it.
It's slow, it trudges, and it hits so hard right in the heart. It's awful. I knew it would be, but I was so compelled to give it the time it deserved. It's simply a modern classic that should never be experienced by anyone.

I can honestly say that this book will hold a special place in my heart ♥ some books really change you, your perspective and the way you feel about certain things/situations and this was one of them. This book has an amazing and beautiful portrayal of love, friendships, family, grief and heart wrenching moments that I have truly ever experienced. This is one of those books that will utterly destroy you and make you whole again.

I can’t say I would recommend this book to everyone because it is such a long and difficult journey to get through, it is very graphic and it’s not for everyone. What I can say, is that this is ♾️ stars for me because after you read the story of these beautiful characters and their life, they really stay with you. You go in blind but you see nothing but resilience and beauty towards the end that makes it worth all the pain.

(Please read the trigger warnings if you decide to read it, remember your mental health comes first)

I will forever have this book in my heart and remember it always.💌

p.s don’t read ‘The Nightingale’ and go into ‘A Little Life’ it is too much emotional trauma for anyone. Taking a break from big emotional reads right now.

I’m in a BYOB Book Club and sent the group a text warning the psychologist in the group to skip this one as they read to help balance their heavy work. At times I needed the book to end, and then I’d read a sentence… and go back to re read it. Beautifully written, yet a massive trigger warning at the same time. Not a book I’d recommend for everyone, and also a book that made me cry for the peeks it gave into the inner lives of people.

This book is emotionally so challenging! Nothing short of destructive. I have seen many reaction videos to the book before reading it and even though I have not shed a single tear while reading it, the book still broke me and tore my heart in half in the last third.
The book begins rather slow and has a lot of descriptive parts in the beginning and middle but that makes the book in total that much better!
I had the feeling, that the book is just like life itself. In the beginneng, in ones youthful years, one thinks that one has all the time in the world. But as one gets older, time begins picking up speed and its over before you even realise it.

I will definitely reread!
