This story covers the high-school life of Handa Seishuu from the series Barakamon. Unlike Barakamon, this story revolves around misunderstandings between Handa and his classmates.
Handa is the son of a very popular calligrapher. Due to his father's influence, Handa has been doing calligraphy since a young age. His looks, his smarts, and his talent at calligraphy makes him one of the most popular teen at his school. However, because of this many find him unapproachable and instead admire him from afar. The problem with this is that Handa thinks everyone hates him as they never talk to him directly (they are always praising him from behind). So because of his view on how everyone sees him and how everyone actually sees him, there is always a misunderstanding.
This volume covers the first 5 chapters in the series plus 5 omakes. I found myself laughing at all the different situations Handa gets himself into. My favorite would be where he was nominated for Class Rep. and he really does not want to win. The last chapter where he goes and delivers printouts to a truant student was a really good conclusion that ties together his actions from the previous chapters nicely (which also explains why no gang wants to get involved with him)
If you liked Barakamaon, I would definitely recommend giving Handa-kun a try.

I don't know. He seems different as a teen. Kawafuji was horrible to him and screwed him up emotionally for the rest of his life, all out of jealousy.
Ampun dah Handa, bgmn mungkin ada orang se... eeng, gak tau d istilannya... se-Handa ini. *senewen akuh melihatmu* :))
I loved the anime Barakamon, it was really cute, so when this series, about Handa the caligrapher, came out about his high school years I decided to give it a try. This first volume has me chuckling out loud many times at just the sheer silliness of some of the situations Handa-kun gets in. But if it continues in the same vein, the same gag over and over again, it's going to get stale real quick.
