Overall I liked it. Nothing really unique in my opinion though it had a lot of potential. I think it wasn’t quite matured and to do the story of main characters justice, the book should’ve been much longer and more in-depth.

The story is written in dual-perspective so you get insides into Presley’s as well as into Mason’s thoughts.

Sometimes the plot and conversations went a bit too fast for my liking and I felt like the whole tension beforehand was missing.

„This is where I’m meant to be. With you and Archie.“
„I already feel a soul-deep connection toward the little tyke.“

Okay soo.. he met her son once for like twenty minutes at most? I mean yes it’s unbelievably cute but that also just what it is- a little unbelievable. I really try to let myself fall into this but the way Mason talks  sometimes just felt pretentious to me? (Even though he clearly isn’t and it’s just his forward character)
Otherwise I really like his character, I just think the book or at least the beginning of the book should’ve been longer with more interactions between the characters.
Mason and Presley knew each other better than anyone else and share a whole lot of memories.
The problem is that the reader does not have any of that. This made it a hard for me to relate to Mason and though he was being genuine I had my problems with how fast things were moving.
Mason just seems to good to be true with all his love and openness towards Presley and her son after he ignored her for six years.

I like Presley‘s suspicious side that sometimes questions Mason‘s behavior.
Also I love their chemistry that even after years being apart didn’t make them emotionally distanced from each other (though I personally can’t really understand that) and the way both of them immediately include Archer into every thought process.

The sex scenes are there and pretty graphic but they didn’t quite capture me. I didn’t like a lot of the phrasing and terms used in the context of those sex scenes. Also there are minor kinks like breeding.

The second half of the book is much better in my opinion! Everything just seems more real; may it be relationships, struggles, conversations or feelings.

„I would’ve found my way home. It gets lonely in the dark. Only one girl has ever shared her light with me. There’s no other choice for me, Pep. You’re it, along with Archie.“

„I’m offended on your behalf. You shouldn’t be expected to always do the changing just because you’re a woman“
  • We love when the love interest is a feminist. Mason develops into such a great guy. I also love how sexual consent and aftercare are present in the book!

„To loving the one you’re destined to be with, even if you need a second chance at doing it right.“

-second chance
-single mom
-small town
-former football player
