I absolutely loved and adored this book, and found it super hard to put down. Where oh where is the half-star, Goodreads? 4.5 stars for sure. This book feels almost like a fairy tale, and I'm talking a REAL fairy tale, where things are grim and scary and don't always turn out with a happy ending. There's so much beauty in this story of two incredibly brave and strong women moving through similar challenges in different eras in Saudi Arabia. It's at times brutal and crushing, but more often it's hopeful, inspiring and empowering. Do yourself a favor and pick this up.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was fascinating, educational, heartbreaking. frustrating, and eye-opening. I enjoyed the story of the present presented back and forth with a similar story of the past. It was hard to read at times (regarding the heartbreaking parts), but I also had a hard time putting it down. Overall, it is a story of strong women who keep fighting no matter what.
