wow, okay, i had very low expectations for this annual because i thought it would just be a nostalgic typical cap & bucky world war 2 adventure. but it was so much more than that. realizing it was a female comic book writer making her first entrance in to marvel comics did a lot to get me on board before even opening the issue. the typical captain america ww2 themes are here and done well. but what really made this issue special is that it recognizes the other populations the nazis sent to concentration and death camps. even the characters themselves hid these identities for awhile as the gay man says he is soviet and the roma woman says she is jewish. this issue far surpassed my expectations and makes a great, quick war adventure one-shot.
