I really enjoyed this book. The story was creepy and exciting, and the illustrations matched this mood perfectly. Between the vocabulary used and how scary the story is, this book is definitely not for younger kids.

Quite a scary children's books, made more so by Leonid Gore's beautiful scratchy pastel drawings. Good old Lucy Gore is a determined and plucky heroine who has a dream of a home of her own and doesn't let a bogle stand in her way. Love the multicoloured trews she stitched for the laird!
