This story was just weird. I finished it to find out how it ends, and I will admit it was an entertaining story. But it's flat out odd. Not something I would read/listen to again.

Exactly what I expected from CH. Always love listening to his books.

I picked this one up in an airport several years ago, and just now got around to reading it. I've read a couple of other books by Hiassen before and found them entertaining, but this one just didn't do it for me. I think it was that I found several of the characters unlikeable and the situations they found themselves in were direct results of their own stupidity, so I couldn't even have any sympathy for them, either. A different person could find it absolutely hysterical, though - the potential is definitely there.

All in all - a quick, entertaining read. A good airplane or beach book.

Pretty good! The characters are lovable in that eccentric Hiaasen way, and the plot was nothing less than amusing. The treatment of mental illness, supposed or otherwise, and race are a little early 2000's, but not overtly antagonistic and not bad enough to really be any kind of a problem. Just a bit outdated. A fun little romp in the everglades.

This was an entertaining quick read, typical Hiaasen. Odd characters, weird situations, but a nice story.

I normally find Hiassen pretty humorous but I just didn't like the main character of this one I guess. It was weird more than funny.

A good classic Hiassen. 10k Islands and Indians.

I listened to this on cd. The narrator's voice is ok, except when she tries to talk as Honey's son - or any teenager. Then she has this very annoying voice that reminds me of Kristen Wiig's voice from one of her Saturday Night Live characters. Story was rather convuluted and unlikely, but had some likable characters.”

What a fun Summer read! As I finished the book, I also learned that Hiaasen wrote Hoot too. I really liked how fallible the character were. Even when they had super unsavory traits, I loved almost all of them. This is a book about our humanity, dealing with a messed up world, and the things that keep us together both personally and socially. Nature Girl did a great job balancing light heartedness with real topics, and I just had a fun time with it. There were some things I didn't quite understand about the nature of each character and the book seemed to take that information for granted. It also felt like it was trying to say something about men and women that was never actually addressed. I would recommend for people looking for a light and fun Summer read that's just straight Florida.
