Trademark Hiaasen - all of the characters are dysfunctional misfits and you just don't know who to root for, but eventually the heroes win (even if they're still dysfunctional). Ridiculous and hysterical.
This was a silly, enjoyable read! It was based loosely around a lesson but it also seemed to not really have a point. A cruisy book to read

"http://nwhyte.livejournal.com/1346799.html[return][return]As ever, a reliably hilarious tale of antics in Florida - this time with less political commentary than some of the other Hiaasen books I have read, but compensated by even more vivid characters, only one of whom is too unpleasant to be believable. Excellent stuff."
I’m a sucker for Carl Hiaasen novels, so while not as entertaining as “Bad Monkey” or “Razor Girl”, it’s an automatic 4 star from me.
This was my first Carl Hiassen book and will probably be my last. I reluctantly read through for the sake of finishing the book. The characters were so far fetched that I didn’t connect to any of them and found the storyline lacked any great purpose. I’m overly disappointed as I’d heard great things about the author but I just didn’t get the ‘comedic’ side that people assert to the name.
My least favorite Carl Hiaasen so far. The characters were fine, as crazy as ever, but not as likeable as usual, while the horrible ones were just as horrible as ever. I powered through this one but easily the least gripping and funny of this books.
Still a huge fan and will continue to read his entire collection if I can!
