This was an interesting collection of stories. I didn’t enjoy all of them, but I enjoyed enough that I considered it to be a four star book.

It seems quite a few of the stories delved into racial difficulties black people have had to suffer, but then we overcame them with magic, monsters and spirituality. It’s always nice when the good guys win.

I wanted this to be much more interesting than it actually ended up being. The individual stories were not great or memorable, not really scary, and not as inventive as I wanted them to be. The only one I KINDA liked was the one by NK Jemisin, and I have one of her books on my TBR so that kind of scares me lol. I’m mostly disappointed because I REALLY want some good Horror or Fantasy through a black lens without the toils and traumas of racism, or slavery or discrimination and social injustices; and I unfortunately really didn’t get that from this one.
