The death of the mother was done too shockingly and really upset me.

Had a bit of a hard time at the beginning, but it gradually got better and during the last 150 pages I couldn't put the book down. The writing style of Edward Carey is absolutely beautiful and I really enjoyed all the drawings the author included. (Carey actually drew the sketches himself)
