If you're not already a Tribe fan don't read this book - it drops you right where the show ended with little explanation.
However, if you are it is unmissable. The author is plainly a fan themselves and has for the most part done an excellent job writing the characters true to how they were on the show. (With the possible exception of Trudy whose emotional growth over the series has been thrown out of the window and been returned to her season 1 hysterics).

Knowing that the plot from The New Tomorrow was supposed to be the basis for season 6, you can spot elements of it in there but thankfully they fit in the overall storyline much better than that show did.

There are several tantalising mentions of missing characters, which hopefully we'll hear more of in future books. Since he turns up in the prologue its no spoiler to say that Bray returns, and said return left me suitably emotional!

Some of the new characters are plainly expendable, but others look likely to stick around for a while and give some welcome new blood. One new character is a love interest for May. I was hoping they would continue the aborted May/Salene relationship as it is long overdue for there to be some gay characters in The Tribe, but it was not to be.

I was also not happy with how the Amber/Bray/Jay triangle was left but hopefully it will be resolved in the next book.

Overall, it is a must read for all us rabid tribe fans out there. Bring on the next one.
