This was bad. Super unbelievable plot with a lot of craziness to it. Thrillers are good when you could see something realistically happening to a certain extent. However, this was just a load of nonsense. The topics discussed and the sex elements/obsessions did also make me uncomfortable.

The writing style was too distracting as it was always going into being a “script” so would distract me from the story etc and disrupt any flow it had. The Baudelaire poetry references and focus were also weird to me.

I really hope that the other books I have from the same author start to get better.

The book really got me from the beginning. This is well written, and very psychological wich is a good thing here.
Nevertheless, I was kind of disappointed with the end.

Not as good as the author's first one. Highly disappointing.

This just wasn't for me, too much suspension of disbelief and the characters were a little over-the-top. I did enjoy the audiobook performance but the story itself was a miss.

Read it because:
I enjoyed The Girl Before and The Perfect Wife by this author

Read it in one go! I wouldn’t rate it 5 stars, I don’t love everything about it, but it definitely kept me interested. Lots of twists and turns. I felt confused many times, but that’s part of it. I think the author is very good at making the reader feel the things the majn character is feeling, eg. paranoia, I had no idea what to believe anymore. Definitely a story that will stay with me for a bit. Not happy I finished it at 11pm
