An interesting take on the isolated lighthouse-keeper story. There is a tone of unease and dread throughout, but it is less a straightforward horror story and more an examination of loneliness and grief. Harrison doesn't rely on the well-trodden cliches of the ghost story, and the story benefits from his strong imagination and originality. A great example of an up-and-coming author's skillful abilities.
