Audiobook version.
The story: The couple in this series, don't really have a chance, moving from one natural disaster to another, all the while being chased by, or chasing, nefarious people.
I'm not against romance books and they aren't a goto read for me, but those parts of the story, that as many people have said quite steamy, still didn't deter me from listening. I had read the first book prior to this to get an idea of the characters and therefore was used to the quite creepy start to their relationship in this book. However, it grows, very maturely.
The thriller side was very well written, with good pace, a few intense and flowing set pieces. Beth and Donovan were well-rounded characters. I was invested in their chase of the killer.
The narration: by Bill Nevitt, was excellent, kept the pace of the writing and made the intense set pieces thrilling, and read the romantic elements realistically.
A nice easy listen and will likely look out for the next book.

First, I don't think this is a mystery, we know from the beginning who and why, but I liked the sense of adventure and danger from the storyline.

I think the plot was well done and it hold my attention all the way but... gosh! why should we go through so much sex? I'm not a prude, it's just that there were more explicit (VERY EXPLICIT!) sex scenes in it than in most of any romance novel, and they serve no function at all. And the worst was that, sorry, but they were boring. I fast-forwarded through all of them and I guess I'll keep doing it as I don't think the author will stop writing them *laughs*

But I'm engaged enough with the story itself that I'll will listen to the next one.

As always, Bill Nevitt does an excellent work with the narration: perfectly differentiated voices, great timing and clarity; truly enjoyable.

I enjoyed seeing the relationship between Donovan and Beth develop as they move forward from the hurricane. Donovan becomes obsessed with finding the cop who murdered his brother and Beth is determined that he won't have to do it alone. A good mix of romance and action. Looking forward to more!
